Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Shelby

Positive: Breakfast had many options, room was clean and didn?t look run down Negative: Would of liked bacon as a breakfast option and gravy for the chicken fried steak.

Loved my stay, clean, great smelling hotel. The gym is well equipped. The lobby/dining area has plenty of places to sit. The HVAC was quieter than the traffic coming by (my room was on the end of the hall by the highway). The staff was friendly and breakfast was sufficient.

The bad: For the Fairfield brand’s not inconsiderable reputation, I was somewhat disappointed during my stay. I was miserable on the mattress that was in my room. It was way too soft, and the bedding was thin. There was also a strange smell (that I simply couldn’t figure out) around the second floor elevators. In what seems like a general trend everywhere, there seemed to be just random people hanging out in idling vehicles, smoking reefer and eyeballing everyone.|The good: excellent breakfast, friendly staff, and was generally very clean.

Everyone working here was amazing! Super clean and quiet😁 Martha made the best breakfast I've had in a Marriott EVER. Blueberry scone and Jalapeno souffles !

The staff were super friendly and breakfast was exquisite. The rooms…not so much. I have EDS and MCAS, so I always ask for a room far from the HVAC units (usually pretty obvious where those are. They’re big and loud). We found a great fit, and I moved into 222. A few hours later, the heat STILL hadn’t kicked off, but it was plenty warm. I called maintenance. It was broken. I had to be moved. This is where the saga began. I ended up in room 307. I tried not to complain but it smelled like smoke SO badly I couldn’t breathe and had to move again after a few hours. Finally, room 306, I was so tired I bumped the heat up (it was cold, so I put it up to 75), and fell asleep. I woke FREEZING early in the morning. It never heated up, and it was 25 outside).
