Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Santa Cruz - Capitola

My girlfriend booked this hotel for my 41st birthday. Although the rooms was spacious with two TVs and a separate living room space. It was outdated with no Bluetooth connection on the speakers for your phones to listen to music while getting ready. The lobby bar isn’t even in operation. The fireplace barely works but luckily the heater did. So if you’re not too concerned over amenities this is your place. If you like to get your money worth then I’d strongly recommend a different place to rest your head. Overall it’s a shelter so it’ll keep you warm and dry.

Located conveniently off Highway 1. Rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable. Warm and responsive staff ensure that the hospitality experience is top notch. The area seemed extremely safe but in any case the underground parking of the hotel doubly ensures the safety of your vehicle. All places in Santa Cruz and Capitola are within 15 minutes and not to mention the shopping mall right next to the hotel in case you've forgotten to carry essentials for the trip from home.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. Around 3 a.m., I was woken up by the strong smell of marijuana coming from another room. Not only is smoking prohibited by hotel policy, but it is also illegal in this area. The smell was overwhelming, gave me a headache, and completely ruined my night’s sleep.||I immediately reported the issue to the front desk, but the staff were extremely unhelpful and dismissive. They did not take the matter seriously, nor did they make any real effort to resolve the situation. For a hotel that claims to prioritize guest comfort and safety, this was very concerning.||I would not recommend staying here unless management takes stronger steps to enforce their own rules and train their staff to handle situations like this properly.

Positive: The room was clean. It had a refrigerator and a microwave. Negative: There was no safe in the room. Both door keys stopped working on the last day. They could not fix it before I left. They kept programming the keys to no avail.

Clean, quiet, beds are comfortable. Very reasonable stay for the price. No view or anything special but a good place to sleep. 4 stars because they didn’t have any hot water for the shower, don’t know what happened there?? Also very small selection of cable channels.
