Best Western Plus Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites

We read most of the Trip Advisor reviews before we came here. This was literally an impromptu trip we created on Friday at 4 pm. We looked at Trip Adviser and this hotel got great reviews. We looked at the few negatives and before we booked the King room with the ADA accessible bathroom (it was the only king room left), I called the hotel front desk to ask questions. Steven picked up the phone and he answered everyting for me from customers who had noise complaints, to being on the first floor, to parking, etc. My wife and I finished the reservation, hopped in the car and we were at the hotel in 2 hours. ||Our room on the first floor was spacious, the king bed was comfortable and the ADA shower obviously had a lot of room. Positive: The hotel was great for the new location of the Wharf to Wharf race. The rooms are a great size. Negative: Reminder: unlock the bathrooms by the pool. We did not want to drip into the lobby to use the bathroom. The light switch in room 106 you had to hit at least 3 times to turn on the light. I do not know if the jazuzzi tub worked.

The hotel was very nice - much better than a typical Best Western! It looked brand new inside - probably was recently renovated. The breakfast was free and pretty decent. The location was in a quiet residential neighborhood. You do need to drive to the beach and other points of interest. Not much was in the walking distance. Parking was easy - there is a convenient parking lot behind the hotel.

The only flaw is floors without carpets — which means you can hear people walking above you. Nasty if there is a whole family. Other than that it’s pure perfection. I’ve never been in a hotel that was more clean — everywhere. They even had blowers in the hallways to move the air so it doesn’t get all smelly. Windows open so you can get fresh air. Full breakfasts! With decent coffee. Not great, but decent — if you like coffee on the stronger side. With real 1/2 & 1/2. And they have this machine in the lobby that dispenses all kinds of drinks: hot chocolate, late, regular coffee . . . It is absolutely delicious, expect for regular coffee that tastes weird. Very happy with our stay- excellent location, close to the beach! Rooms were modern and clean with comfortable beds. Impressed with how friendly and helpful all the staff were. Breakfast had lots of options, coffee available 24hrs. Great jacuzzi and the pool was heated. Next time I’ll book directly with BW instead of using a third party.
