Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Elkhart

I stay in a Marriott every week in this city. Last night I checked into my room, and it was very damp and smelled terrible. There was a dirty maintenance towel on my bathroom floor. I went down to the front desk and asked for a different room, and I was told that they were sold out and there were no other rooms. No attempt to resolve the issue with the room, it was either put up with the room (and any dirty linens) or I could leave. Which I did - and moved to a much nice Hilton Home2Home in the same parking lot. I would highly recommend choosing that over this hotel. They couldn't even process my cancellation on this room. The person at the desk couldn't even give me the contact info for the GM.

Positive: The breakfast was above average with biscuit sausage sandwiches. The building itself is built like a fortress, making it so quiet you would never hear folks in nearby rooms. The exercise room has windows so it didn't feel claustrophobic. Great beds. Negative: We had trouble adjusting the heat but think we could have figured it out had we been more patient.

Yikes! This hotel is not representing the Marriott brand well at all! Here are just a few things: Entry door to room not working correctly (easily could have been reported by housekeeping), wallpaper coming off of the wall and being held by blue painters tape (moisture problems??). Went down to breakfast at 6:30 (advertised breakfast started at 6:00) and nothing, not even a hot cup of coffee!

We had a wonderful experience during our stay over Christmas at this hotel. From Check in with Kara, who was super friendly and accommodating, to our house keepers Wanda and Ceno, everyone was upbeat, cheerful, friendly and ready to help out with whatever we needed. The room was spacious clean, the beds extra comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Shout out also to Beverly and Chris who were also lovely! Thanks for all you do!

I have never met a better customer service employee than Gayle Staner at this hotel. She is incredibly knowlegable, kind and patient. I needed extra help arranging a room for my twin brother for one night and my sister in law for the week. My brother had a big surgery (open Heart) at the Elkhart hospital and I hoped to provide comfort to Barb while she shuttled back and forth to care for her husband. Gayle took many phone calls and emails from me as I tried to sort everything out. I will never forget her kindness. Thank you, thank you, thank you dear Gayle and to the staff at the Elkhart Fairfield for all the kindness!
