Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Charleston North/Ashley Phosphate

We stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Charleston North/Ashley Phosphate from November 20–23. Overall, our room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was excellent with plenty of choices.||However, we did feel uneasy at times due to several sketchy individuals lingering around the entrance and lobby areas. These people were clearly not hotel guests, and their presence made coming and going a bit uncomfortable. While this didn’t ruin our stay, it did impact how safe and secure we felt on the property.||With some increased attention to guest security and monitoring who is spending time in public areas, this hotel could offer a much better overall experience.||Photo 1 – Hotel Lobby Scene|The image shows part of a hotel lobby with modern décor. This hotel had the best front desk workers ever. I can’t remember the managers name but she treated my brother and I like we were her own when there was troubles with our reservations per USAA. Her cousin as well was always so much help and incredibly friendly. The workers here have genuine care for their costumers! The rooms were great and the hotel was near so many restaurants with only a 20 minute drive to Charleston. When we visit Charleston we will definitely be staying here again. The hotel was in a convenient location. It was peaceful and the staff was somewhat friendly. My room wasn’t that clean and I was surprised due to COVID-19. It was as if only the beds were made back up after the guest prior to me checked out. There was hair in one of my beds, stains on the sheets&pillow cases, the carpet needed vacuuming, and the bathroom floor had stains on it as if someone walked on it with dirty feet. On checkout day at 10 am the housekeeper knocked on my door 2x and I said who is it 2x. She then opened my door. She did this to other guest rooms that were in my party. She acted as if she didn’t know check out time was at 12 pm by saying “oh y’all check out at 12”. Instead of being so quick to clean the rooms she needs to take pride in cleaning properly. Pros: the people at the front desk are friendly, beds and pillows are comfortable, rooms are clean, reasonably priced. Internet was good and always accessible. Cons: poor sound proofing, can hear everything from the next room and the hallways. Ran out of hot water for showering on both the Friday night and the Saturday morning. We did not try the breakfast. For the price we paid (~$100 a night) it was a good value with the included breakfast. But I would personally pay a little extra and stay elsewhere next time in the area.

This place looks nice when you walk in, but the service & cleanliness is awful. Our room had dirty shower walls, the door didnt shut all the way, the milk being served at breakfast was past the expiration date. We had no hot water & the mattress was not only a queen aize on a king frame, it was so hard I couldn't sleep due to it being sunken in the middle & feeling like we were laying on plywood board. This place is nothing like what we are used to from a Marriott Bonvoy hotel. It is more like a Red Roof Inn.
