Fair Wind Lodge

Our stay at the Fair Wind Motel and Cottages was fantastic. We stayed in the motel unit. The check-in and check-out wer easy and quick and the staff was friendly and informative. The room was updated and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything in the room was in working order. The location is just a short ride to Clayton.||We will definitely go back again

This was a last minute pick for a last minute trip and I am so very glad! Quaint, quiet, excellent location. Super kind staff. Will definitely return in the future. A couple words of warning, there is no water pressure in the shower and the laundry is done very well, super clean and tidy - however, if you have a sensitive sniffer or skin that gets upset by fragranced laundry, bring your own pillowcases/sheets. I am almost certain that if I had asked about it before arriving, or even arrived earlier and asked for a change of linens, they would have gone out of their way to accommodate. This is the kind of place to spend a week. Excellent experience.

The place was amazing. The view of the water was beautiful and the doc was perfect. They were so accommodating and the rooms were spotless. They had fire pits and grills ready to use and the pool was extremely maintained. The location is perfect because its away from the town an is so peaceful but also close to 2 downtown areas. The owners really make you feel at home. Im already looking forward to next trip!

I have mixed feelings but I wouldn't stay again. This is a nice location and the cabins have power for charging boat batteries. There is a dock but it's at the bottom of a huge set of stairs. The cabins are old but seemed pretty clean which is really all I care about on a fishing trip. Here's where it gets dicey... I always inspect my bed when staying away from home because I know people who've gone through hell with bed bugs. Upon inspection, the sheets looked clean but the box spring had some blood spots. That put me on edge but I decided I'd just bag the stuff I slept in. I had no issues at all throughout the stay but on the last day as I was cleaning everything out of the cabin I spotted what very much resembled a bed bug on the screen to the door.
