Extended Stay America Suites- Hartford - Meriden

My coworkers and I stayed in room 239 on February 2nd and 3rd. We regularly work early morning hours. I'm grateful to all the staff at the hotel; they are excellent people and very polite, except for the manager. He's a chubby man and very rude to both guests and his staff. The manager entered my sister's room while she was working; she was resting in her underwear. He barged in, telling us he didn't want us on the premises because our work vehicles were parked outside his lot, and we were still bothering him. I don't think that was the right way to handle things. He showed no courtesy and had absolutely no consideration for his guests. He should have spoken to us and asked us to leave instead of resorting to such a violent, rude, and abusive approach.

Positive: I especially enjoyed, after having to call the police for 3 employees entering my room without my knowledge, going on my phone, stealing my money, and my jewelry; that the window they took out of its frame and left propped up against it fell onto my dog Negative: The corporate staff is a joke. The in house management is inexperienced, and will not handle ANY of you issues and then lie to your face. The support staff will open your door for themselves and people who dont work here to enter your room and steal

The maintenance of this property is lacking. There is a transitional management team. There are some unsavory characters here. The lighting outside is very poor. I fell and got a concussion and hurt fairly badly. I asked the then regional manager for lighting to prevent issues in future and for general security. He went to area I fell and promised he ordered lighting in mid-August. It is still very dark and feels unsafe at night. The area I fell in needs light as there is drainage there on both sides of a parking island. There are metal grates on both sides. The footing is uneven with poor lighting, but nothing has been done. Disgusting!!! Checked in to a room with feces all over the inside of the toilet. We got a new room which looked extremely outdated to the other one and dirty. If they don’t even lift the lid to check and clean the toilet I’m positive the rooms aren’t wiped down throughly after each guest. The room smelled disgusting like perfume trying to hide cigarette smoke. All my clothes and belongings smelled like the room when I left. The hallways smell like weed and everything looks dirty. Avoid this hotel!!!

I stayed at Extended Stay America in Meriden under extremely difficult circumstances, being homeless due to an illegal eviction. I sought refuge in this location to escape freezing temperatures and waited for emergency funds to secure permanent housing. During my stay, I requested the front desk and manager to ensure my location remained private due to an active restraining order against an ex. Unfortunately, this was not respected. The room had constant construction noise and two malfunctioning TVs. I repeatedly complained, and the manager showed little concern. I had to find maintenance on my own to remove one TV, and even then, only one worked. Upon checking out, I asked if I could extend my stay for a few more nights as I was waiting on a check.
