Comfort Inn & Suites Meriden East

Room was dirty. There were layers of dust on the mopboards and spider webs under the bed on the bed foundation that could be seen from across the room. Water pressure in the shower was practically nonexistent. The first night we had people above us stomping across the floor all night and repeatedly dropping heavy objects that sounded like they were going to come right through the ceiling. I finally called the front desk at 3am and they said they would ask them to quiet down. They did, but only marginally. The air conditioner/heating unit was old and sounded like a jet engine taking off when it would fire up every 15 to 20 minutes. Positive: Pretty good hotel for a moderate price... and whoever did the Christmas decorations in the lobby and breakfast area did an absolutely wonderful job! The stockings for all the staff members was so sweet! Negative: A lot of trash piled up by the trash bins near the elevators. Ice machine missing on my floor. Shampoo and conditioner are low quality. Breakfast is pretty poor selection, and only orange juice, no other kinds of juice.

Hallways reek of weed at 8:00 in the morning. Couldn’t tell when I arrived if the guest in the lobby had just smoked or if the front desk staff had just smoked. Rooms had barely a blanket on the beds, had to take the smoke alarm off the wall and down to the desk to get battery changed, and lights didn’t have coverings just the bulb. This place is overall disgusting. Couldn’t even eat at the buffet because it stank of weed so badly.

I give this place a solid 3. It has truck parking in the back, and is around some places to get food. There are some people lurking around, and some interesting folks that seem to live permanently at the hotel. With that said, nobody bothered me or my truck. The water pressure is great. The floors smell strongly of smoke and marijuana. The room was clean though. Front desk staff if the evening were nice. All in all would utilize again if needed.

Breakfast was okay, kinda sparse, but it is included, after all. The room smelled weird, like maybe cigarette smoke that had been cleaned but not completely gone, front desk advised it was probably coming from outside, but I don't think the heater pulled from outside, it was recirculating. The heater blower motor was so noisy it woke me up at 3:00AM, I advised the front desk at checkout that the motor required oiling or replacement. I think that was my biggest complaint, hopefully they fixed it for the next guest. Some of the furniture looked tired, beat up corners and such, I just think the whole place needs a refresh, the building is nice, just needs some detail attention.
