Customer Reviews
There are several spots that can be reserved online, both for RVs and tent campers. I was able to get full hookups, to include electric, water, and sewer. The site was pull through, as well. At the site I reserved, the electric box, as well as the water and sewer connections had some damage but it didn't affect the function of anything. There are bathrooms in the park, but no showers. The stay was quiet, as there was only one other campsite occupied. I tried fishing at the lake, but the waterline was low so it was difficult for me to find a spot to fish. The easiest spot was to fish off of a small bridge. Unfortunately, I didn't even get a bite.
Nice little campground. Online reservation worked great. Bathrooms were clean. Overall looks clean, the trash others reported seems gone. Nice in the fall with the cottonwood trees. The trains ran a couple of times but we had worse noise. Some fishers in the morning. Overall a good experience.
This is a hidden gem, small RV/tent campground next to Escondida Lake, which is stocked, and as we discovered, represents a fun fishing location in spite of the small size... Site offers full hookups with trees and a play area for the kids. Reservations will provide bathroom codes, but be advised, there are no showers. Proximity to the freeway as well as Socorro are nice, particularly if you need to run into town for supplies. If you don't like the sound of trains (we do), be advised they will run through periodically and the tracks are rather close. Some of the amenities could be freshened, the cover on our electrical box came off while attempting to hookup shore power (site #6), but we were just happy to enjoy it. If I could make one note, trash appeared to be somewhat of a problem,
Nice park, full hook-up, however you must enjoy the sound of dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. The adults were on the roads but their kids rode up and down in front of the campers. Very inconsiderate parents. Lots of trash also which is sad, it could be picked up.
Off the Escondida exit there is a narrow underpass with a 13.9 height. We did okay with our smaller camper trailer. Big rigs may want to seek another entrance. We were only here for a few hours to drain our tanks, refill and fix lunch. No problem with electric or water hookups. We noticed that water on spot #5 with RV hookups is capped. Train tracks are nearby. It is beautiful and very quiet when we were there.
