Elkins Inn & Suites

Don’t be fooled by the allure of staying in what was formally a hospital. That soon dissipated. We wound up here after being unable to find another room in town for reasons unexplained all booked in the middle of October on a Friday night. All they offered us was a suite at a steep rate and no heat and non-negotiable. We’re talking in the middle of October in West Virginia and the heat is not on. The bill on my credit card turned out $40 more than I was quoted. Absolutely never again this place. The room is dated circa 1980, parts of the ceiling falling on the floor and furnishings, TV did not work and there were two TVs in the suite. Again can’t stress enough avoid this place like for the sake of your personal well being and the health of your wallet. What a horrible stay this was.

Was a days inn now independent. Very nice staff. Room small but clean quiet and comfortable. Woman at desk accidentally kept charge and ran it up to our room at. 11 at night. We could have been halfway home without realizing gone. Older but that’s ok. Convenient to town and train.

Cheap rates on a busy weekend, I'm not sure how old the building is but it looks like it has history, in rooms and antiques in lobby. Bit of a musty smell in my room but I'll take it for a safe and dry place to stay.

Nice place for a cheap price. Do not think they have AC it seemed like unit was just on fan mode circulating outdoor air. You can definantely tell this used to be a hospital. Location was great close to many things.

The service was great. The staff at the front desk were kind and accommodating. We truly wanted to like this place, it had some charm for being a older hospital turned into a motel but unfortunately we couldn’t. We got into our room and it smelled of smoke. We did our normal room inspection that we do when we stay anywhere. The bathroom is very small, sink is outside of the bath and everything is pretty dated. They even had a old “fat back” box tv. The sides of the bed and floor had stains, when we flipped the mattress we saw a “bed bug bomb” (supposedly it kills bed bugs). All on the mattress underside was bed bed eggs and casings. All the sheets had dog hair and other hairs on them. As well as stains, I think they may not of been changed from the last guest. We told have front desk imme
