El Capitan State Beach campground is a beautiful place. There are beautiful views of the ocean from many sites. There's a very nice beach, walking paths and trails, with one that goes by a little stream. (Amount of water in it varies depending on time of year, and if there's been rain.) There are very nice sized campsites where you are not on top of each other, and are not too close together, like so many other Southern California campgrounds. It's a nice place to get away from it all. The restrooms near our site were out of order on our last visit here, but hopefully they will be fixed soon. They put up a temporary outhouse for now. There is a cute little store with cute souvenir items. It would be nice if the store also carried a few items that people often run out of or forget, but it

Great location and campground with stunning views over the ocean. However, we were on the upper campground and the PCH being close by, our spot was extremely noisy. Trucks passing by all night next to our tent… not pleasant at all. The bathrooms were pretty gross, the drain in the showers did not work and there was toilet paper everywhere. Also, there is a ton of raccoons in the park at night trying to eat people’s food so please be mindful and remember to put away your trash and food before sundown. Our neighbors didn’t… We still had a great time but beware of the noise level, that was not a fun experience.

We camped in the upper section, site # 114. Very nice campground on the bluffs above the beach. Walk and bike paths make it easy to get to each section of the campground. Beach access is by staircases or paths. Rocky beach with drift wood on one end, open sandy beach on the other end of the campground. Enjoy mature sycamore trees on the nature trails. Traffic on the 101 and trains can be heard in northern campsites. Best sites have ocean views.

Great campground with lots of amenities. Bring QUARTERS for the hot showers. People were nice and wore masks. Awesome camping experience with my dog. Definitely windy and cold but we were prepared. People were courteous and we had no issues with our neighbors.

Beautiful! 2 of the lots were open on first come first serve basis. Plenty of spots available on a Sunday. We got a nice spot in lot d, pretty private for the number of spots around. Great walking path right next to the campground. Coin operated showers. It was dry camping for $45, but the view was worth it!
