Courtyard by Marriott Santa Barbara Goleta

When CA decides to flood, and SBA closes and your flight was cancelled….. this Marriott brought some respite during some challenging travels. Wonderful modern hotel. Staff was on point and the room excellent!

Very decent hotel room (a spacious, decently appointed two queen bed suite) with super comfy mattresses! Friendly staff -- and Starbucks coffee for sale in the lobby! But for the love of God, shampoo that carpet! The bottoms of my feet were black (I took a picture; but since I waited too long to respond to their email (11 days the survey is no longer active) and therefore didn't already put them on notice, I don't feel right in posting it here). Now, I realize many people don't go barefoot in hotel rooms. I understand, and have adopted that approach on occasion; but it doesn't let an establishment off the hook! It was well after Labor Day weekend and I imagine less people are staying there in early October, so before the holiday season I would think that's when it would get done. S

I stayed for one night to attend a family wedding. Though I wasn't at the hotel long, the time spent in the room was pleasant and comfortable. The bed was nice and there was plenty of space for storage in the dresser and wardrobe. I did not have the opportunity to try any of the food offerings, but Marriott generally provides ample options. Overall, this was a great stay in a very nice hotel. A little out of the way from Santa Barbara, but well worth the drive.

Above average Courtyard hotel. Very nice pool area with fire pits for lounging in the evening. Rooms are clean and very spacious. A very small detail that I appreciate, but rarely see at this hotel tier, is that there are ceramic mugs for coffee and actual glasses (not plastic cups) in the rooms.

There was a sharp, piercing noise in my room starting around 3:00 a.m. that lasted for a long time, likely caused by the air conditioning system. I recorded the noise and showed it to the front desk. What’s especially frustrating is that earplugs were already placed in the room, which strongly suggests this is a known issue. This was by far the worst Marriott stay I’ve ever experienced. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it.
