Econo Lodge Marion I-81

Good Points: The front desk receptionist was very friendly and very helpful. Kudos to her for her good people skills. Price was inexpensive. Bad Points: Rooms not well-marked on doors regarding non-smoking vs smoking. Our non-smoking room was heavily smoked in. The AC in one room had a broken turn knob so it could not be adjusted. Renovated rooms are fine, but non-renovated rooms are old and tired, carpets smell, and air conditioning is very old. Stairways are crumbling and rusted - poor aesthetics.

I give this lodge 5 stars because the manager went above and beyond for us. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The TV did not work so the manager got a new box and was on the phone with the service to get the problem fixed which they did. This is not a 5 star hotel but it is quiet and friendly.

The room was barely clean and gave me the creeps. We had no towels. Two washcloths left obviously by former guest. I dared to walk barefoot to bathroom, came back with long black hair on my feet. My hair is blonde, husband is bald. It's a shame this place is so shoddy because it is a great location. I don't have high expectations for a thrift hotel but I do expect towels and a clean room. The bed was uncomfortable also .

Positive: Nothing Negative: Roaches, holes in walls, tub stopped up with roaches floating .. Place should be shut down... Walked into room and left 5 minutes later

After a long journey, we arrived at the hotel late at night. We had a reservation for the same day, but our check-in time was a few hours different. Despite this, the staff member was not willing to help at all, did not offer any solution, and even asked for an extra fee. Customer satisfaction was nonexistent. Treating tired guests this way late at night is completely unacceptable. I will not choose this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone.
