Econo Lodge Lawrence near University

Room was grungy & grimy. Just felt kind of gross. Dirt all around the edges of the floors. I literally wiped down the bathroom floor with a towel before use and the towel was gross. Sink was streaked & didn't drain well, stained curtains, weird smell. Beds were clean at least but I was not going to go barefoot or in socks. Yes, it's an older, dated property and that's fine. As long as it is clean. This was not.... The "continental breakfast" was sorely lacking. 2 kinds of cold cereal & some white bread for toast. Toaster didn't work properly. No juice or tea. Coffee was terrible. I was traveling with 2 smaller children and had hoped a decent breakfast at the hotel would make the start of our day smoother. Guess not.... Go to Starbucks or McDonald's & pick a different hotel.

Positive: Location was good. Negative: Was charged twice and still waiting to see if the 2nd charge gets taken off. When checking out I told the attendant that I was charged twice and they indicated that one charge would drop off. So far that has not been the case.

I mean… you get why you pay for, right? Was not expecting anything fancy, prepared for an unglamorous experience. The walls were thin- could hear a couple going at it pretty passionately all night. Alright, standard motel, still not too bothered. Bed was even alright. But what really got me? The bottoms my feet were brown after about 5 minutes barefoot in the bathroom brushing my teeth. Then the free breakfast from 6-9? Well that was a box of Raisin Bran and some milk at 7:00 AM with the front desk promising the “real stuff” would be out by 9. I’m trying to be pretty fair here because we really didn’t expect much and were ready to put up with a lot, but people pick their hotels because of the free breakfast, and having some semblance of cleanliness is really the only difference between

As a returning customer, I will simply say again that I do highly recommend the Econo Lodge in Lawrence,KS. It's a simple choice to make to return to the people and the place that always make you feel at home and welcome each time you come back. That's hard to find these days anywhere you go. This is a very affordable place to stay, but the respect, consideration, and genuine enthusiasm we experience from everyone there is priceless. I've talked to the owner a few times and was glad to know he's very much involved with all aspects of the motel and doesn't hesitate to help any way he can. I'm always greeted with a smile by the Manager who is always friendly and very patient with me when I screw up my reservation! The entire staff, including Housekeeping are all part of my repeat stays

The hotel is very dirty. The sidewalks and parking lot need to be powerwashed badly, that will help a lot. There were a lot of cigarette buts. I found a dead fly in my window sill apon arrival. The windows can be cleaned, more attention to detail.
