Downeaster Motel

Met the owners of this establishment while at a local restaurant. needless to say they were extremely unhappy with everything that happened in the dinner rush time, and were rude to not only the server but also myself (another paying patron) and other company at the bar. When they told us to stop yelling (which no one was, I'm prior military, if I wanted to yell, you'd know it - it was a busy night and we were all talking to each other across the bar), I then paid their tab for their dinner to hopefully offset whatever mood they were in, just to be (literally) yelled at by them as they walked out the front door. Not a single thank you - no change in attitude, just entitlement. Theres no reason to be rude to your server, or random strangers that are *also* paying to be at a local restauran

Stayed here for a family visit as most of the area was completely sold out. Yikes is it dumpy. Was able to take good shower on the way out to get off any grime or disease. I wouldn't recommend unless there is no where to go and you really don't want to sleep in your car!

Best to avoid unless you want to inject politics and Donald Trump into your Maine vacation, and believe me from the very moment you pull into the parking lot you'll know exactly where the owner(s) stands on political issues that probably aren't top-of-mind for you because you know, YOU'RE ON VACATION. Owner doesn't care. He'll hang flags and banners and place literature for you to see almost daring you to say something. If only he had enough self awareness to know what the majority of people are thinking about him... People like this are insufferable and undeserving of my business.

I am very pleased with this motel. I have been here since||April 2023. The owner's are very nice. They have treated me with the utmost respect. I love it here. They are great people. They work very hard to maintain the motel.

I apologize for not getting this posted sooner!||Last August I spent one night at this motel in Scarborough. It was the last room available anywhere near we needed to stay the night before a camp reunion. There are reasons why they had rooms--the condition of the building, office and pool. I have never seen an office with more junk or lack of cleanliness. Our room smelled of smoke though smoking was only allowed outside.While the sheets, etc appeared to be clean, there was a broken blind, stains on rug and spread. The pool was broken. The house at the front where the office was located in disrepair.||Camp out before you stay here.||There is no picture available for their website. If you drive by please review if there have been changes for the better
