Donald MacDonald County Campground

I had a wonderful stay at Donald Mcdonald Campground. The grounds are incredibly well kept while still feeling natural , peaceful, and untouched- exactly the kind of environment you hope for when camping. Everything was clean , serene, and clearly cared for. A special thank you to the two ladies working during our stay. They were so kind and genuinely helpful, and they kept the bathrooms spotless the entire time . Their hard work made a big difference and truly elevated the experience. My only wish is that the dock had been open - it would have made the stay perfect. Overall, highly recommend this campground for anyone looking for a clean, natural, and welcoming place to camp.

My "walker" wife wanted a new place to walk. This was beautiful. The boat launch ramp and dock on the river were beautiful. The entire grounds were very clean and well maintained. While we did not camp there, it looks like a place we would like to have stayed. Also, given the signage, I believe manatees can be seen there at the correct times of the year.

Donald MacDonald is not a hotel, it is a campground this Campground is fantastic! There is no power hookups here but if you have solar you're good to go. They're walking trails and lots of nature to see. Is there a picnic tables and fire rings on every site. The camp host is friendly and easy to talk to. It is inexpensive to Camp here. This is becoming one of my favorite places to come and camp.

Was fishing with my son and a woman maybe the campground host came and yelled at us in front of a lot of people on the dock. Made us feel like dirt for fishing there. There was at least 15 other people on the dock not fishing. Who also thought she was very rude to us. Not as nice of a place as use to be. Been here 21 years never been treated like that there before. Said we were taking up to much space. Two of us 15 other people.

This is a county campground with 5 RV spots for about $35/day. The rv spots have electric, water and sewer! Reservations have to be made online and there is no one in the campground office due to staff shortages. There is a boat ramp on the river. There are camp hosts who are very friendly. I had a package delivered to me while we were away by FedEx so that was help. I did leave a sticky note on the door for FedEx to let them know it was ok to leave my package. There are more primitive campsites for tents with water, I believe
