Not our first visit to our favorite mountain town of Elijay but our first experience camping here. What a treat. The campground is execeptionally quiet and the views of the water are lovely from most every campsite. Self serve check in and check out. Only registered campers allowed and no guests. The bathrooms are okay, campsites are clean. We stayed at site 30 with a 180 degree view of the water. I wish there was water access for our kayaks other than the boat ramp but the campground is on a mountain and the site looks down on beautiful Lake Carter.

The views are great. Very hilly with switchbacks. Only 2 bathrooms for all sites. Very quiet. Not much to do there other than hike and enjoy campfires and outdoors. Ellijay is the closest town, which is quite touristy. If you like wine tasting, it's great. Not an area for bicycling. I probably wouldn't return.

The park is lovely, with great views and hilly terrain. Lots of switchbacks and steep angles on roads - a butt-clencher for long trailers. The campsites are flat, clean concrete, and our connections on Site #2 worked fine. The bathrooms are a hike from most sites, with only 1 bathroom on each loop. The federal budget changes and firings of federal employees seem to have hit this park hard, but the volunteer staff are really nice. Building maintenance seems to be deteriorating, and the gate entry building is always empty, with hand written notes posted. There is not much to do here without transport as it's very spread out, and hilly. Super quiet. Nice place, but probably wouldn't go back. The highlight was going into Elijay for the day: lunch and tourist browsing $$tuff in a charming so

There campsites are level and well maintained. The sites are mostly on the lake but are too steep to access the water. Sites #12 and #13 are on a gradual slope to the water and it was easy for us to walk down the trail. We saw several deer and a huge Gobbler!

We come here several times a year as a family and it feels like a home away from home at this point. Clean sites, friendly rangers, stocked bath houses. Big variety of terrain to choose from regarding sites.
