Cowlitz River Lodge

We loved the hotel!! 1. It’s close to the White Ski pass ( 20 min very scenic easy drive - stop for a pic with Mt. Rainier on the way) 2. Affordable (less than $150 per night for 2 queen beds) - if it was not for this hotel we would have never come to ski if we had to pay $800 for 2 nights). 3. Walking distance to gas station with EV charger, walking distance to local mini market and super yummy $25 large pizza with CRISPY crust 4. Shower was clean and the water was hot. 5. Beds were comfortable and clean. 6. Towels were bright white - super clean 7. Free POP corn, coffee and HUGE selection of teas on the lobby. 8. Games were available in the lobby 9. Our room had mini fridge, microwave, keurig. 10. It’s a rural area with high tourist traffic - set your expectations accordingly for ameni

First: we arrived early to see signs posted everywhere "no early check-ins!!!" So we didn't try to do that. I had a question about directions and asked the man at the reception desk. His answer: he just waved his arm and said "down the road." no welcome, glad you are here, nothing!!! When we came back at the appropriate time to check in, Mr. Super Unfriendly was not there and we were checked in by a very nice woman. Our room was large and very nice, rustic charm. We enjoyed seeing the elk wandering the property. When we inquired later on about great places to eat in the area (Packwood is TINY), a maid actually called a restaurant to see if they were open!! So all in all a good stay except for Mr. Super Unfriendly. Not a great person to meet upon arrival!

Positive: Loc5 Negative: Very very poor wi-fi. The showers were very loud from other units so much so it would wake you up. The floor transition had nails sticking up ..step on it more than once on check out management knew

Stayed up here for work multiple times. They have new management and new staff that are all friendly and handle any issues that come up with your room promptly. They are continuously updating the rooms (new bathroom fans, new lights with a nighttime mode and dimmer switches, all new plug ins and light switches) rooms are clean and comfortable. 100% would recommend to anyone and for anyone that's stayed before I'd definitely give it another chance with the new management and new staff.

Inn keeper chastised us for not recognizing the tiny little black "bell" on the dark counter. We were informed we were suppose to ring for service like they do in every other hotel. It was about 6:30 PM not that late. I was surprised at the attitude I hadn't seen the little auto thumb press, didn't complain about waiting for service and was in a pretty good mood. I jokingly pressed the button and the unamused desk person called me a two year old. We were really tired so we stayed. Room was okay seems clean, nice lobby and Elk lounging in the front. But out back our only window faced a grubby shed with an old antenna on top, an old water heater laying on its side and some junk scattered around. I think we were put in this room on purpose feels like punishment for inadvertently annoying
