Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach

I had always had my family stay here when they came to visit but after the last time in April 2025, never again. We were not told in advance that the pool would be under construction which was a poor management decision. We are local and live literally 10 mins away so having a nice pool was a priority. We could have easily moved our dates or switched hotels. When we checked in, we saw that the pool was completely removed and torn out of the ground. We werent allowed to access the area. This wasnt an oopsie just happened kind of thing. In the time they called someone to rip it out, they could have notified their guests. There is absolutely no excuse. This place is a joke. I waited 4.5 hours to check in and nobody told me early check-in was even an option. After waiting more than 4 hours, they told me the room reserved for me was gone. The front desk staffs were rude and had a bad attitude, talking to me like I was the problem and asking me what I wanted in a very aggressive way.||The room was even terrible with zero soundproofing that you can hear EVERYTHING. AC leaks water and blows cold air straight at your head. You can’t control any of the modes. The fridge is insane, it only cools if you press a button and it works for two hours max. Any food you put inside will go bad.||Marriott app doesn’t work for check-in. No daily housekeeping either. This does NOT feel like a Marriott hotel at all. This place was so awesome! It was close to shopping and food options! There's a cool store on ground level for some souvenirs and clothes. Their coffee place by reception was awesome and the staff was sweet! You've gotta try The Prince coffee drink! There's a cool bar where you can sit inside or outside and have a view of the pool area. Super peaceful to chill here.

Positive: The lady that checked me in. It was her first day on the job. She worked for the Marriott, but she just transferred to that location. I stay at. She was African-American and had red streaks in her hair. Ittook three rooms to find one acceptable to stay. Negative: Terrible noise under the streets. Most of the rooms did not meet the Marriott standard by any means. The first one is beyond horrible. The second wasn?t much better. The first two rooms needed dramatic updating. One had no desk and no safe, broken lock.

I’m not sure why all the bad reviews. Our room was clean, the air cond was cool, the towels weren’t stained and our stay was great. We stayed here two weeks while our son was in the hospital and there was only one time when nobody had been to our room in a few days. I called the front desk and they sent someone twice to make sure our room had been refreshed to our liking. Front desk staff were helpful and great. A short walk to all you need on Waikiki. Would definitely stay here again.
