Seriously Marriott? We were informed AFTER the reservation cancellation deadline that fire alarm testing would be happening during our stay after a late flight. [email Sunday night, less than 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival] Have you ever been at a hotel during a fire drill?? Disturbing at best, ranging to full blown anxiety attack. Why would I pay for this? My husband endured 4 phone calls on Sunday night immediately after the email arrived. 4 different hotels reps with faux-empathy, and no one empowered to cancel the reservation without penalty. And a promise of a response with 5 business days. There's a reason I stay at Hilton for business travel, and rarely stay at Marriott properties. To be fair, we were informed about construction prior to the cancellation deadline--1 issue. P

Rooms are very dated and in need of a major overhaul. Ac unit in living area didn’t work thank god the one in the bedroom worked. Living area smells like wet dog because of the humidity. Door locks but have to push it hard to close it and the security latch is falling off. Tv remotes in my room would not change channels unless almost pushing through them. Internet is non existent if you are in an end room, maybe it’s better in the middle rooms, I am on a middle floor also so that should not effect it. Check in was great and the lady that helped me was awesome. When reported that the AC didn’t work, all you get is a sorry about that, not even an offer of points or small discount. In the morning they did make it right and offered point which was very nice. Maintenance did come by the room

Reserved king bedroom. Arrived on Sunday at 4 pm on November 2. At check in we were told king rooms were sold out 😢 I asked for a king room for the next day, no king room was available. Our room had tiles flooring entrance and into the bathroom and sink area. The bedroom was carpeted. I wish it was tiled throughout. Popcorn ceiling and dirty wallpapers in the sink area and shower room. The deck had a lot of rust on the rails and plastic chairs and plastic side table was dated. Bed was too soft and lumpy. I preferred a firm mattress.sheets were stained. Lucky I brought my own bed sheets. We stayed for 5 nights due to gov shutdown.

This was a very bad stay. As we are getting ready for bed our first night we noticed bugs on the bed and around the room. Went downstairs and they moved us to another room. No bugs at all and very clean. However the door would not lock. Next morning we explained the situation. Front desk was very nice. Gave us complimentary breakfast that was not supposed to be on our bill but was. The breakfast was horrible. Pool area was dirty all the time even when they opened it in the morning. Then unfortunately they had a pipe burst. Which led to them having to turn off the water. They did allow us to go to a sister hotel and take a shower due to us having to be at a graduation. Our room was never cleaned the 3 days we were there. Asked for a manager to call me when we checked out. Never received a c

Positive: "" Negative: They “nickled and dimed” us for everything. They charged $19 a day for parking. $20 for breakfast. $5-8 for coffee. We are used to getting free parking, and breakfast when we’ve stayed on the VA Beach oceanfront.
