Courtyard by Marriott Savannah Midtown

I called in advance to ask if the pool would be open given we were going to be here in November. I was told it is weather permitting. When we arrived, the temperatures were in the upper 70s so swimming weather. However, there were combo locks on all gates. When asking the front desk, I was advised it was closed November 1st...🙄🤦 Laundry services required quarters which I couldn't charge to my room and needed to have cash. However, there was no ATM on premise?!?!? The Bluetooth key in the Bonvoy app didn't work on my room?!?! And there were several outside doors which didn't close tight and lock. This hotel is conveniently located near the mall and several restaurants and easily drivable to downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful, one and all. The room was not up to the usual excellence of Marriott properties, one of the lamps was broken, the door had a "trick" to it to get it to close and open (yes, one of the staff had to come up and show me how to jiggle it so I could get in), the balcony (which is such a nice feature) was littered with empty cans when I checked in. I stay in Marriott hotels about 6-7 times a year, and this has been my only experience of one that was a little below par. Again, the staff were lovely; polite, helpful, and friendly, but there needs to be a little maintenance.

Horrid, non existent customer service. Exterior doors do not secure and are often found hanging open. Front desk looks like deer in headlights when asked questions. I'm now wondering if they're stoned, based on other reviews of marijuana smell. I didn't smell it but perhaps they've just moved where they smoke? Charging now $10 per day for parking so if you fly in and decide to chance it with this hotel, or it's your only option... be certain to tell front desk staff you will not be parking a vehicle or they will assume. If family living in the area is driving you, be sure to have them pick up and drop you off at front door or you WILL be charged for parking, even WITHOUT A VEHICLE. "We saw you drive off". I must say I had a somewhat strange experience staying here. They provide a parking voucher that basically says you park at your own risk, which felt odd. The room itself was spacious, with a balcony and a pool view. However, I'm not sure why they were so restrictive with the TV. The screen was fixed to a blue color setting that was uncomfortable for the eyes, and some equipment was installed that prevented connecting external devices (like an Xbox or similar). The volume was also difficult to adjust. The toilet flush wasn't working in the morning, and when we requested maintenance, it took at least an hour for someone to arrive. The only positives I would highlight are the good internal security and a comfortable mattress.
