Courtyard by Marriott Houston Westchase

A roach crawled on me while I was sleeping!!! I woke up to the sensation of something moving on me, turned on the light, and saw a roach on the bed. I got dressed immediately and went to the front desk at 3 AM, half-asleep and shaken to report it. The receptionist, Patrick, was completely unfazed. His reaction was so nonchalant it felt like this was something that “just happens all the time.” There was no urgency, no concern, no offer to inspect the room, no attempt to relocate me, and no reassurance that anything would be done. All he said was, “I’m sorry that happened, hope you have a nice night.” I told him the roach was still in the room. He still refused to step out from behind the desk. He just looked at me. At that point I told him I couldn’t stay there and would find another hote

The hotel is not good. The hot water didn't work and food around the room quickly attracted ants. Ice maker didn't work on my floor. The building is old and either needs a complete renovation or needs to be rebuilt. The room was inexpensive, and I thought, it's a Marriot, how bad can it be. Well, that but me on the ass. However, the desk staff was fantastic. Perhaps the best I've experienced in over a year. They were helpful and a joy to speak with. And that's not 1 person, that's everyone I dealt with. Location was alongside/behind a Kroger which wasn't as bad as I expected. If saving money and you are a trooper, you'll be fine. But don't expect much from the facilities. Again, the staff was terrific.

Fire alarms started blaring loudly at around 4am in the rooms and throughout the building. This chaotic, stressful event went on until about 5am. There were no employees to assist in the lobby and front desk area during this situation for a good 20 minutes until one unhelpful, incompetent, rude man shows up. Then a woman employee pulls up in her car to assist but still no true help at all. ||The alarms stopped for a few min so now they're both saying to all of us that its ok to go back to the rooms yet no explanation of what's going on. Well, the alarms start sounding again LOUDLY and a guest not the staff ends up calling the fire department to assess the situation to make sure we are safe to be there after this. The fire department shows up fairly quickly and handles the situation finall

Was fine for the price. Internet crashed just prior to arriving which put a kink in not having electronic room keys. Staff was readily available to open our door anytime needed. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

FYI, if you are out of town and not familiar with this area. BEWARE… this hotel is in the hood. Gas station down the street has bullet proof windows and gives you your items through a slot, (to put in perspective). Hotel is decent overall for the price. But wish I knew the area before I booked.
