Kyle at country livin' was incredibly accommodating to my unique situation. I had a friend who was stranded in Carlsbad and lives in Taos. Kyle was more than happy to allow me to book and pay for a room for my friend over the phone. ||He even went above and beyond when he let my friend hang out in the common area while he was waiting for me to pick him up. It was especially nice of him, considering he certainly had no obligation to and it was nearly 100° outside. ||I would absolutely recommend this lovely hostel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Carlsbad. My friend said the hostel was "very nice and very clean". Kyle was amazing with accomplishing our unique accomodations! I had to find somewhere for a friend to stay on very short notice, until I was able to drive to pick him up. I was able to book a room with ease over the phone. My friend really enjoyed his stay, he said the hostel was "a really nice place". Kyle even extended his hospitality beyond what was expected by allowing my friend to hang out in the common areas while I was driving from Taos to pick him up. Excellent customer service. Above and beyond with no hesitation. I would absolutely recommend this cute little hostel for anyone looking for a room in Carlsbad. Not to mention, you can't beat their price! The best thing we can say is that our stuff wasn’t stolen when we went out for dinner. But to be sure, we loaded up our valuables and took them with us anyway. The cheap & easy-to-pick locks on the rooms were just asking to be tampered with. ||||The only interaction we had with management was the day before when they called to confirm and remind us that this is a hostel. So, yeah, we knew it was a hostel type of place, and that was fine.||||The rules: the management posted a list of rules, which was nice if people abided by them. ||||Our room: the uncomfortable bed became even more so as it broke in the middle of the night. We were shocked awake and had to deal with a weird incline the rest of the night. You can’t control the climate for the room, and it turned off at night…so we tossed an

It was great! Very clean and quiet, and the over-the-phone booking process was so friendly and helpful. They even suggested some great takeout places for me to grab dinner! I’ll definitely stay again if I come back through Carlsbad.

The location was clean and close to all necessity amenities. Security cameras in common areas and outside along with a keyless entry; felt safe. Host was responsive. Bed was comfortable. In the works to add extra amenities inside shows he cares about his guests.
