Congress Hotel

The room was extremely small and felt cramped. There were almost no windows, and the ones that existed were tiny and provided little light or fresh air. It was also very hot and stuffy inside, making it uncomfortable to stay in the room for long. In the middle of the night, the toilet burst and water started pouring out uncontrollably, forcing us to deal with the situation ourselves. The sink stopper was broken as well, which added to the inconvenience. The staff eventually responded, but far too slowly for an emergency situation.

Bed felt like sleeping on a stack of plywood. AC system did not work and room felt like a sauna. After calling the desk, they did bring a fan. Do not recommend staying here. Overpriced for poor accommodation.

Definitely an older hotel, but the views cannot be beat. Centrally located facing Grant Park, we loved gazing out the window and watching the activity in the park, and especially at Buckingham Fountain, which was entertaining both during the day and at night. I don’t recommend the hotel’s restaurant, but there are plenty of great places to eat and things to do nearby.

The hotel staff made me boost it to a 2 rating yet the hotel could redo rooms nd the carpet in hallways had a old century smell. Overall it was otay.

Great staff. Loved the room and the view.
