Comfort Inn Summerville - Charleston

This is my new favorite Charleston area place to stay. I come to the area monthly for work. Ive had a lot of disappointments and issues with hotels in the area. I like how this is located just off the main traffic area and kind of hidden where its calm. The staff here is very friendly. The rooms are great. The atmosphere is calm and conducive to rest. Its one of the nicer comfort inns I've stayed at recently. Its becoming a go to for summerville/Charleston area stay even if my day comes to a close further in to the metro area. i'd be happy to drive out here to stay for the night.

After finding a roach in our room our very first morning, we informed the morning desk manager they have roaches. He matter of factly said they get them occasionally. He then offered us 2 choices (1) stay in that room and they can have it fumigated or (2) we can move to another room and they can fumigate the first room. He didn't seem concerned. When we moved to the other room, the freezer section of the refrigerator there was 80% solid ice. They had to move the 1st room fridge to the second room. Also, the breakfast selection was poor and the eggs were cold. This is the first Comfort Inn where we had issues. We never experienced this with any Choice Hotels in the past.

The room was something out of the 70’s and wreaked of cigar smoke. The bed was more akin to a slab and the couch was filthy and wrecked. The only other place to sit in the entire suite was an old, rickety office chair. Every metal surface in the bathroom was covered in rust. I typically have good experiences with Comfort Inn but travelers should avoid this poorly maintained blemish on the chain. I wish we would have just left for a cleaner, more comfortable stay.

Check-in was a breeze. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and TV, refrigerator and wi-fi worked. The bed was very comfortable. Nice hot water in the morning.

I really wish I could give zero stars because this was just, gross. I have never stayed in a more disgusting place than this one. The rooms smell of mold & mildew. Everything is dusty, there are cock roaches everywhere but especially in the bathroom. As soon as we notice we made sure all our things were cock roach free & the fact the guy at the front desk didnt bat an eye when my husband told them we couldn't stay there tells me everything I need to know. Save your self the anxiety & stay some where nice.
