Comfort Inn Grove City - Columbus South

Me and my 16 year old son were driving from Texas to Ny to visit family. We were involved in a hit and run accident on 71 and our car had to be towed. We were transported to Days Inn shortly after 7am and despite our circumstance we’re told we couldn’t check in early OR hang out in the lobby until check in at 3. With no clue where we are we decided to walk across the street to comfort inn and see if they were able to help. I wish I caught the man’s name but I was still shaken up, tired,and just trying to find a safe place off the street. The employee working the front desk was our angel. Without any hesitation he allowed us to check in early at a little bit of a cheaper price, gave us our key card, and reminded us to help ourselves to the complimentary breakfast. The place was undergoing a renovation and it is a dump at best. No breakfast on site. Needed to go to another hotel in the dead of winter. The place smelled of mold and construction dust was all over the place. The pool was closed. It was filled with mattresses. Could not swim laps. I left at 1:30am because of the dust and smell. This hotel should be closed until renovation is complete. A black eye for Comfort Inns.

Just checked in after a 9 hour drive. The man at the counter was awesome. The hotel is being renovated which is fine. However the room I reserved was the king bed suite that the pictures showed a single chair and small sofa to sit on but that’s not what I got. This is a much smaller room and the only place to sit besides the bed is an office chair that’s about to break. Very unstable. No coffee at the machine. I went down to get some coffee and speak with the man but no one was there. Breakfast is at a hotel next door and it’s going to be 19 degrees in the morning. That would have been a handy piece of information to share when making the reservation. Wow, it’s so good to be a diamond member. Thanks Choice! #%%#

Room was far from elevator which is odd for Ada accessible. Room was large but not cleaned very well. Found trash and personal items from previous guests. 1 AC didn't work properly informed MGMT and was told I didn't know how to use the AC?!? Left early. Stay at the comfort suites right next door. Wandered in there by mistake much nicer.

The ONLY reason this isn’t 1 star is because of the two staff who helped me but true rating is 1 star. I booked a 4 day stay here for work, arrived after hours on the road just to have the door not open because the battery in the door was dead. 5 dead doors later I finally get my room. Next 3 days have issues getting in every night still. Final night, after a 14 and a half hour work day and at 11pm dead tired door doesn’t even turn the light on. 10 minutes later finally in the room. The doors should not be unable to open every single day and I shouldn’t have to lose even more sleep to that. Outside of that too the bed is stiff and pillows are basically nonexistent. You get what you pay for but they should charge $40 a night at the quality of this hotel spend the extra 20-50 dollars a night
