Comfort Inn Detroit Downtown

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. The hotel was very dirty from the moment we walked in. There was a strong smell of marijuana throughout the property, which made the environment very uncomfortable. The room itself was in poor condition. The bathroom door was broken, the walls were visibly dirty, and the carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The TV did not have a working signal, so it was unusable. The curtains were also dirty, and to make matters worse, there was gum stuck inside them. Overall, the cleanliness and maintenance standards were unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made.

The first and second-shift employees we interacted with were so kind and welcoming. They were very helpful and informed us of the complimentary shuttle service that got us to the Fillmore and back after our event. While checking in and out, we were offered help with the luggage cart, which we found very nice. The room, lobby, and breakfast area were very clean. We didn't venture into any of the other areas. The only reason the rating is not a 10 is because the beds were not very comfortable and the continental breakfast didn't offer much.

This is long, but keep reading, things you will want to know. Let me start out with the not so great. Elevator didn't work, they tried to give me a room on the 3rd floor. I explained that wasn't going to work with no elevator as I've had back surgery and cannot carry my luggage up and down the stairs. After some debate and trying to put me on the second floor he finally "found" a room on the first floor. This room had a spa tub so he said this was an upgrade at the same charge. I'm glad I didn't not pay the extra for the room. The spa tub left something to be desired. Was cracked, not in great shape, but useable, just didn't turn on the jets, I was afraid of what might come out of them. Second the security door "2" would not lock, meaning anyone off the street could just walk in, no key ca

This hotel is ok- the state of the rooms wasn't good - not super clean and a lot of stuff did not work- not working tv and missing shampoo- etc. The room checks need a higher standard of quality here. There was loose medication under the nightstand before I checked in... easy thing to avoid with post clean room checks. The staff was totally top tier though - very friendly and breakfast was yummy. Also the location is easy to get downtown by a short walk or a 3 minute drive.

Positive: The lady at check in was AMAZING!! So nice and just fun to talk with. Carried on a conversation with us and cared to have it. Didnt make just small talk with us. Negative: The pop machine on the 1st floor was practically empty. Did not have much for options.
