Colonial Motel

We found ourselves at the Colonial Motel after our "regular" travel through, night place was filled. The clerk suggested Colonial! Location was great! Quiet! Squeeky clean! (I left my first room tip EVER!!) The host/owner delightful and friendly! Price reasonable! Oversize room!! Comfortable furniture - easy chairs, couch, bed AND table/chairs! Other guests pleasant,so it was a nice atmosphere! Honestly - a "cut above"! And if you like doxy dogs... you'll love the well behaved "welcome committee"!!

This is the greatest and best motel in Manistique! We have stayed here the last 2 years when we were driving to lower Michigan to close our cottage. Clean, comfortable and best of all, has character! The motel has been in business since the early 1950’s and has been well cared for and loved by all the owners. Our room and I think most rooms have pine paneling, which makes you really feel like you are up north in the UP! The lobby of the motel is also has lots of personality, just like the Innkeeper( owner) You can stay at a big chain hotel/motel else where, but you can only stay at the Colonial Motel when you are in Manistique !

By far the best motel I’ve ever stayed in. Mike the owner was absolutely a wholesome, wonderful, and very accommodating host. Rooms were nice, clean and very comfortable. Will be coming back! Thank you Mike for such a welcoming experience!

Our road trip around Lake Michigan, starting and finishing in Chicago, ended over a week ago. Before we flew back to England we wanted to have an experience of vintage Americana; something that matched the traditional US image seen on our film screens. The Colonial Motel provided just that, along with the friendly and sincere welcome by owner Mike and his wonderful family of sausage dogs.||The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and super clean. Parking directly outside the door was a novelty (for us) – way more convenient than the numerous other hotels we stayed in, all lovely but somehow less memorable than this. Value for money was especially notable. We had a fantastic sleep and felt well rested for the remainder of our trip.||We would recommend this motel to every Brit that happe

This ranking is true! Nice, clean, and comfortable. Very reasonable price! We were in #17, which was recently remodeled and it was great! It was 2 standard sized beds that were very comfortable. The room had a mini frig and microwave. It had a nice sitting area in the room with lamp, table and 2 chairs. There is also a bench outside the room by the door .. Each room, I noticed, had one. We definitely will be back on our next up north vacation!
