Colonial Inn Ellsworth

If you're going in the winter like we did and want to swim clarify that you would like to be in the main hotel and not in the annex. We weren't prepared to walk across from the annex to the main hotel to swim so it's pretty darn cold walking across the lot to go back to our room while soaking wet. The front desk workers were amazing but if you're going to check in after 10:30 or 11:00pm there is no one there to check you in or give keys.

To be honest I was not impressed when we went in our room & saw the lock on the slider door was a wooden slat on the bottom track. But, as time wore on, I became satisfied with my booking here for a couple days while we explored the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. Every thing else around was very expensive, so in the end I felt we got a pretty good bang for our buck. The breakfast was nothing fancy, but adequate. The location was handy to many things we needed & I was happy we didn't stay in the overpriced hotels in Bar Harbor. Friendly & helpful staff.

This older facility is operated by a helpful, caring staff. Our room was clean and comfortable but a bit worn with time. The value of our stay was great and we did not lack for any convenience or comfort. The only problem I encountered was with a card reader on one of the drink dispensers that would not let me charge my purchase.

Everything was great about this property. Yes, it is a little old but has been very well maintained. And most importantly, the property is very. very clean and our rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, as if we were checking in every day. Rooms are pretty spacious too. Great value for money!

This Inn would be great for those traveling with their dog; the pet fee is only $10 and there’s a well marked dog walk area in back. Our room with kitchenette was clean, but not updated at all. The shower had good pressure, the caulking was no longer adhered to the tub surround. There is an indoor pool, game room and laundry facilities available. There is no elevator to access the 2nd floor, however the majority of rooms are on the first floor. The complimentary breakfast offered a large variety of grab’n go items, with a microwave and toaster available for heating items. This is the place for you if you don’t mind the dated rooms.
