City Express by Marriott Tempe

This hotel recently got bought by new management and I feel the reviews are a bit harsh. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay amazing. The rooms are spacious with brand new furniture and paint. Yes I didn’t have a fridge but as of today they were installing fridges in every room. The breakfast is good and the maids are very kind and on top of it. The front desk staff will get you what you need if you don’t have it in your room. It’s clean, great location and well run for being just open. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back. Shout out to the receptionist with the pink hair who I sadly forgot her name, sorry babe. You are great at your job and made my stay wonderful. Cheers to all the staff at city express and the hard work they put in with the challenges of opening up

This hotel was previously franchised under a different chain. I made a prepaid reservation in September. December 8th I got an email stating the previous franchise chain had "terminated" the hotel. That day I called the previous chain customer service and was told my reservation was still at that hotel and that my prepayment was still applied and neither could be refunded. The following day I called the hotel directly as well as Marriott, the new franchise, and was assured my reservation was there still and my payment would be applied to the room. Upon checking in on Friday of this week I was told I hadn't paid. I stood at the front desk with two clerks and a manager while they found my prior payment in their old system and took my card for "incidentals." Later that night when attemptin

Positive: "" Negative: The building was old and wore out. The hot breakfast foods were too scarey looking to eat. Pictures and ratings were high as well as cost of stay. Nothing met my expectations!!! Would never stay here again or recommend this hotel.

Walls super thin can hear everyone on side rooms, smells of paint still, sheets very thin and no comforter, pillows are horrible, no mini fridge, no ice bucket or cups. if you book through outside source be prepared to call them because payment will not be on file. Front desk was very nice but hotel has a lot of work for it to be somewhere Id stay again.

Do. Not. Stay here. Heed the other reviews. Management is beligerently incompetent. A child could run a hotel better than this. - the entire building reeks of drywall and chemicals. - no fridge first night. Management doesnt give employees keys to get one after their maintenance guy goes home. Fridges arent amenities. Put 1 in every room. - walls are paper thin. You can hear *everything*. - room didnt have a "dont disturb" door hanger. Asked for one.... they gave me a sticky note to put on my door. - The thermostat routinely reset itself to 80 degrees. - the pillows.... holy hell the pillows are bad. - bathrooms are old - room felt unfinished - for families: A strip club *directly across the street* has big neon signs advertising "free nudes" at all hours.
