Carolina Temple Island Inn

I had a seminar to attend and needed something with a kitchen as opposed to just a hotel room. I searched and found these apartments at a VERY reasonable price. They do not rent for just the weekend during the height of the season but this late in the season, he was agreeable. I would go back and stay for a whole week of vacation, we enjoyed it so much. The place was a little older but we had everything we needed and the owners were some of the nicest people you could ever find! My son and nephew needed a place to hang-out until I finished my last meeting on our last day. They packed up and were allowed to use the hall bathroom, if needed, and rinse off at the outdoor shower after swimming for a while. This way I knew they were safe until I called ready to leave. You must experience the charm of this older “beach cottage”. Steve and Mary are caring hosts of their generational business. You’ll enjoy sitting on the covered porch in a rocking chair or hammock. They may sit a spell with you and share some of the history of Wrightsville Beach. Our room was clean and the space suited our needs at the beach. They have an easy access to the ocean just across the street. Enjoy their special private area on Banks Channel.

My wife's family's been coming to Wrightsville Beach for years (Aunts Uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, spouses, and kiddos) and the Carolina Temple Island Inn has been a mainstay and central location for our stay for decades. I married into this family tradition and am now hooked on this place and my family will be staying here for years to come. Steve and Mary are the friendliest folks (and owners) and it wouldn't be a vacation without seeing them. I highly recommend staying here!

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and would love to go back and spend a week or more! It is a wonderful apartment at a great location. It's one house away from the beach and across the street they have a dock on the bay with beach with chairs to relax on. The owners are a joy to work with and are happy to recommend things to do and see during your stay. You are within walking distance to a few restaurants and a short drive over the bridge if you want to visit Wilmington. The rocking chairs and hammock on the huge wrap-around porch just call for you to sit awhile and relax.

This is a very small inn that will feel exceedingly, delightfully familiar and homey to anyone who grew up spending summers on Wrightsville Beach. The enormous wrap-around porch lined with white rockers is just one tiny example of the flavor of this special place. It is small - maybe 11 units/rooms. Some are on the first floor and some are up one level. There are several types of units and, I think, only one is what might be called large (it's also known as the owner's unit & I have never stayed in it). I have stayed twice in a 1 bedroom (no view) unit and an upper level "studio" style unit with an ocean view. Both had nice kitchens and clean, attractive bathrooms.
