Caravan Hostel

We had such a good experience here. The space is very cool! Great decor, lights, wallpaper. It was clean, very comfy beds, the staff (Naz) was very friendly, the kitchen has tons of supplies (pots and pans, dish ware, knives, toasters…), there is coffee and a wide selection of tea always available, there were toiletries available including razors and tampons… The place exceeded my expectations. Location was good. Lots of inexpensive restaurants within walking distance. We took Lime scooters to/from embassy row and the monuments. It is kind of a noisy area - We could hear roust people outside until late, but it didn’t bother us (Hostel also provided ear plugs).

Enjoyed my stay, with one word of caution: the nearest metro station (U Street) is 1 mile away. There is a bus line that goes directly there, which I found to be the best way. There is also a bikeshare which I had a mixed experience with, or Lime scooters as others have mentioned. The hostel is cozy and very clean, with a well-stocked kitchen (although i didn't notice anyone cook anything more than eggs). The beds are triple-decker, so keep that in mind. I appreciate that they had earplugs, moisturizer, etc. I did not notice any street noise, but there may be some for rooms that face the street. The neighborhood is lively, plenty of food around (Julia's Empanadas is great for a quick bite). Overall, would recommend!

Genuinely went above and beyond my expectations! I went in, never having stayed at a hostel before, and was expecting something along the lines of a motel. This place was so clean, the staff was so friendly, and there was everything you could have asked for and more from a hotel: a fridge, dishes and silverware, a microwave, and the ability to cook your own food, lockers for your things, hot showers, and a clean bathroom. I also appreciated the female-only room option! If I come up to DC again, I will definitely be staying here!

This is a fantastic hostel, provides a lot of great amenities and the beds are SUPER comfy. The check-in was easy, staff seem nice, and it's immaculately clean. I knocked it down a star for two reasons; 1) the water pressure is pretty bad, which was easy to cope with for 48 hours but I might find that a deal breaker if I was here longer, and the main one, 2) there's a really garbage-y smell in the main lobby and kitchen area, kinda like cabbage. I thought it might just be uhh... hostel cooking ya know, but it's persisted for my whole visit. It's probably just a 'old building' thing that isn't really the hostel's fault, but I wanted to caution anyone with a sensitive smell because it's pretty strong in places, to the point of holding your breath. Maybe I'm just a bit more sensitive to it t

I had an amazing stay at this hostel! The place was super comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for our trip. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming, perfect for travelers. A special shout-out to the two lovely receptionists Ingrid and Carol we met during our stay, they were incredibly kind, helpful, and made us feel right at home. Meeting them was honestly one of the highlights of our trip! I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Washington and would happily stay here again. Thank you so much!
