Canyon Vista Campground/ The Pit

This is a relaxing place to get back to nature. The spots are flat, well kept up, and wide. The tables are concrete and in great shape. The bathrooms are clean and lit at night. It's a short walk to a beautiful canyon overlook.

We had a wonderful stay at Canyon Vista Campground. It's remarkably close to the city, Flagstaff, but tucked away in the forest, it feels remote. We went in June 2019, and it wasn't crowded at all. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. They came by and checked that we had everything we needed and offered us water. They gave us a general idea of the campground. They had installed little motion sensor lights in the bathroom, so you don't have to fumble with phones or flashlights to use the loo. They have a box of reading materials, books, maps, etc. like a little free library set up. They had 5 wonderful dogs, all leashed, controlled and super friendly and adorable. Great campground not too far from Flagstaff. No hookups, has a restroom, trash dumpster and a spicket of potable water. There are only 14 sites in total.

Nice small campground, Trails right off campsites are awesome. Camp Hosts were nice and friendly.

Showed up on a Monday before 4th of July (Thursday) Got the last spot available! Very nice campground. Super clean and very quiet. Bathrooms were very clean for pit toilets. Definitely recommended if you can get a spot as they are all first come, first serve. Great proximity to hiking/mountain bike trails.
