Candlewood Suites Portland - Scarborough by IHG

In the off season. Im in town on work. I got a 1 br suite with kitchen and couch for 80$ per night. Clean quiet place with free parking. Ive been staying in the old port and parking is always an extra expense. So the place is nice, free parking and affordable. Good quality for the price. Ill be back!

Positive: The front desk staff member was very helpful and friendly. Negative: The hotel building smelled like someone was cooking in the rooms, and the room was very dirty. The bedding appeared to no be clean, there was multiple hairs in the sheets, pillow cases smelled like they were not fresh and a pillow was heavily stained.

My husband an I stayed here for 3 days. Very clean, beds were comfortable. Front desk was friendly. Close to a lot of businesses. We would stay there again.

I was charged for an additional night than my reservation. The general manager Mike Sand never returned my call and my number sat at the front desk for 4 days. They said no one else was above him to resolve my issue, however a week later Michelle, the director of sales as she introduced herself as, called and said she handled the refund. Im still waiting unfortunately. Then to top things off when I arrives they said my reservation was wrong and no rooms were available. I showed my confirmation and then they magically found me a room. The room wasn't clean, I had to go and change the sheets. On top of everything, the metal shower rod fell and got my wife. It was barely hanging there. The plug was broke and sitting on the corner of the tub. There wasn't a hook on the back of the door, j

This is not the worst hotel I’ve ever been yo, but it’s far from the best. It was a bit cheaper than the other options, and IHG is usually a trustworthy brand. The hotel is run down. I wouldn’t quite go as far to say dirty, but it does need attention. Some weird things. My door handle barely works, so you have to lift upward to open the door. Second, there’s a red stain on the wall next to the trash can (hopefully ketchup). Finally, for some reason there’s a toilet paper roll lodged in the bathroom light/fan. Every bit of furniture is scuffed up or worn out. Paint is chipped all over the walls. I loved the option to have a laundry room at our disposal for no extra charge, but after 3 rounds our clothes still weren’t dry. The beds are comfortable enough, but I would really recommend looking
