Candlewood Suites Houston - Pasadena by IHG

Stayed 6 weeks for work. Staff was friendly and mostly accommodating... weekly room service was mostly adequate but lacked a little in their thoroughness of cleaning. They were a bit of an administrative nightmare ... getting receipts and paperwork in order was difficult due to double charging then posting room credit weekly... At the end, it all worked out it was just aggravating to decipher doing weekly expense reports. Pasadena along the beltway both north and south is under construction and getting around the area is frustrating.

We stayed at this Candlewood Suites one week ago. We checked in and found ourselves in a nice clean room with a full size refrigerator, microwave and stovetop and comfortable beds. We didn’t have housekeeping all week. Not sure if that’s normal but we were just fine with that as we really didn’t need the service. We stopped at the front desk for additional towels and blankets. The only criticism I really had during our stay was the smell of “gas” in the lobby. When I inquired, I was told that it’s a normal smell that comes from the refineries in the area. We have stayed previously at the Hampton Inn just down the road and didn’t experience this. Maybe it was just the week to have that smell. Our room did not smell of “gas” at all during our stay. We were traveling from north Carolina and could have stayed off I 10 houston but my husband wasn't feeling well so we wound up in this Pasadena town at the candle wood suits that was fully equipped with a full kitchen and amazing little store down stairs. The place itself is decent, but the cleanliness is seriously lacking. The carpets are filthy they smell of dog and feet, and if you scrub them with a towel, the towel turns black. That’s not okay. If they had the carpets professionally cleaned, I’d give this place 4 stars. A better shower head would bring it up to 5. As it is, the water preasure is so restricted it feels like a light trickle of pee, you end up spending three or four times longer in the shower just to get clean. So much for water they thought they were saving. On the positive side, I didn’t see any bugs like other reviewers mentioned. The TV is good and the beds are adequate. The property is also gated, probably due to the gehtto trailer park behind the hotel.

There’s a gate around the parking lot which allows a sense of safety about your car. However, you may not feel as safe when you realize there are also security inside and sitting on the interior floors. That made me concerned about what may happen there. There is nice space in the rooms, especially if traveling with a group or family, with a kitchenette. Our bathroom wasn’t very clean. There were long dark hairs stuck to the walls in the bathroom and the halls have a strong odor. Overall, the beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly.
