Candlewood Suites Harlingen by IHG

When we checked into our room, it had the foul stench of pet urine. The hotel cleaning staff was obviously aware of this as there was a white deodorize powder all over the carpet. Of course there were no other rooms available in the hotel...and nothing available for any IHG hotel in the area. The lady at the front counter did her best, but of course no manager was available to make this situation right. Curtains had some weord stain. AC did not cool. Do yourself a favor and stay away to avoid an experience like mine.

I recently stayed at the Candlewood Suites hotel in Harlingen, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. This has by far been the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Waited a good 5+ mins to check in while there was 2 people talking in the back. I was just handed my key card and No other information was provided about where the elevator was, pool was etc. My living room definitely had a funky smell to it and the AC was at 65 yet didn’t feel cool at all. The toilet didn’t work properly, called down to lobby to see what they could do. Called several times in a 10 min pd. Nobody ever answered, had to go down where I waited almost another 10 mins to get helped. I told them toilet wasnt working and the water kept coming up after every flush. I was handed a plunger and told “ oh girl it’s just clogged”. So there we are unclogging the toilet after every use. Next day we went out, came back and our ke

Love the kitchenette but they don’t clean very well all my utensils have nasty residue on them and have 0 hot water for the past week. Dishwasher pooled water on my floor and front desk didn’t care. Also my nightstand has rust all over it! Overall a bad experience being here

We’ve stayed there several times over the years and we have always been treated well. This time we were there almost 2 weeks. Alas the hotel is now old and in desperate need of an upgrade. The carpets smell old and musty. Wall’s by air conditioner were moldy. Lysol and Febreeze to the rescue! The room was big but the air conditioner didn’t work well in the living room. (It was fixed right away). The kitchen was missing utensils. Loved that washers and dryers are free. Free Coffee was great! *I hope upgrades are made so we can continue using enjoying this hotel in the future.
