Budget Inn Durango

It is what the name implies; a Budget Inn. No frills. Just a dressed down place to lay your head for the night. I had no issues with our accommodations. Clean, no rowdiness, no drama. I wasn't prepared for the 25 or 50 cent pay for ice requirement,, but it was pointed out to me that it was cheaper than buying bagged iice at a convenience store-especially for the amount of ice you get. Oh -- One straight up negative-- my assigned parking spot was on the street side of another block of rooms. Zero sight line to my car. I didn't care for that at all. But again, "BUDGET". You gotta expect a few less than ideal terms. All in all, I'd stay there again.

This motel is far from new. It's pretty dated. However, we're on the road and Durango is not the destination. It's an overnight. We want a clean, comfortable room with a good bed and a good shower. Good TV is nice but not mandatory. This place checks our boxes. We were disappointed that they don't have ice. Because the ice machine sits outdoors, they turn it off in early October to prevent freezing. If all you want is a decent flop, this will do the job.

Great prices for the area but this place was rough. A couple of other reviews stated that it was clean which lead to us booking it for a couple of nights. It definitely was not clean. The rooms are basic and have what you need but I wouldn’t send anyone I cared about here. This first night we found out that the shower valve was broken so no shower till the maintenance guy showed up the next day. I will say the staff we interacted with were very nice and did what they could to resolve the problem.

Wish I had paid a little more and stayed somewhere else. The person we delt with,Charice was not very helpful when I had trouble with the wifi. And speaking about the wifi, it sucked. I kept geting kicked off. in the room there was no way to hang up any clothes, not even a hook on the back of the bathroom door. In the bathroom there was no vanity, just a pedestal sink, so no where to put anything and there was no bathroom fan. This place looked like it was built in the 1960s and nothing has been done to it since.

Positive: The location was perfect for our ride on the Durango-Silverton train, and near restaurants. Negative: The refrigerator wasn't plugged in when we got there. It had a very musty smell inside. The pantry doors are put on backwards in room 134. You can't run the microwave and the air conditioner at the same time. That made us laugh.
