Buckaroo Motel

I stayed at the Buckaroo Motel in Tucumcari in early August 2022 while traveling through New Mexico on vacation. This is another classic 1950s era Route 66 motel that is fortunately still in operation. Right up my alley. ||||Let me start by saying that my stay was fine, the room was nice and the gentleman who registered me in the front office was most pleasant and helpful. Everything was in good working order in the room including bathroom/shower, flatscreen TV, refrigerator and small microwave oven. The air conditioner worked well too - important at this time of year in this part of New Mexico. This may also be one of the least expensive, if not the least expensive place to stay in Tucumcari. My room came to right around $45 for one night and that included tax. A very good value, especial

The owners are SUPER nice and friendly, the rooms are clean and it's really quiet. We would recommend the Buckaroo to anyone traveling through!!! The prices are also great. God bless the owners!!

I had never stayed at the Buckaroo before but I was determined to see whether some other favorable ratings were correct. First of all, the rates run less than half of some of the other highly-rated motels in Tucumcari. I didn't really know what to expect but I was more than pleasantly surprised. The room, while not expansive, was very clean and neat. It looked like it had recently been repainted and the carpeting looked brand new. The bathroom was neat and tidy and had more than enough towels and wash cloths. The TV was not a flat-screen but it was quite new and the available channels came in without any problems. The wi-fi signal was also very strong. This stay will definitely NOT be my last at the Buckaroo.

The price was good, the beds were clean and comfortable, and there were plenty of clean towels. The room included a medium-size flat TV, a coffeemaker, small fridge, and microwave. The window unit AC was quiet and cool. The bathroom was clean and, uh, quaint. The toilet had a weak flush, and the shower head was very basic, but there was plentiful hot water. Furniture was old but serviceable. Some paint was peeling around the door and window, but these finishes did not affect our sleep. The light was dim at night, even with the overhead light and two table lamps. In the morning there was good sunlight. There was an ice machine outside that did not dispense ice. It was a clean place to sleep comfortably.

Stayed there as part of our Big 2013 Road Trip. Great neon sign. Spacious & clean room - not fancy or new, but decent, with original furniture (only minor complaint - A/C took a while to cool the room). Very reasonable price. Friendly people, & a friendly cat too. Would definitely stay again.
