Atmosphere and cross country ski trails are 5 stars. Two stars were subtracted due to the following: 1. Bought cross country ski rental and ticket online. Filled in all my sizes. Signed a waver. All online. Only leaning that I need to stay in line again with everyone else who didn’t do what I did ahead of time. Makes zero sense. The Nordic Center needs to step out of 1800s and step into the modern age, jeez!!! 2. Maybe it’s normal but ski boots are not sprayed or sanitized in any way. I saw a woman return wet ski boots. They were immediately put on a shelf without any spraying (maybe it’s done later, after hours?) But I came in the afternoon and got wet ski boots which I am sure were just returned and put on shelf so it was odd to wear them after someone else without any spra
The “tubing” is the biggest scam I’ve ever seen. Pictured is the “hill.” It costs $15 per ticket, you have to rent a tube, and parking costs $10 for the smallest kiddie hill I’ve ever seen. Driveways are longer than that. There’s also 0 information on the booking website about where the hill is. We were under the assumption it was at Bretton Woods, would have multiple runs, that the price would include the tube, and be an actual hill… wild.
A nicely groomed trail system of approx 100 miles, some of which include shared trails with bikes, snowshoe walkers and dogs. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. If you've never tried it before, I highly recommend a lesson. You can also rent equipment (in good shape) as well as tubs for snow tubing down a small hill. There is a small equipment shop, a fireplace, and complementary hot chocolate/coffee/tea. The lunch is wrapped sandwiches and salads.
Phenomenal ski day on Dec 1st. What an early season treat for me! Perfect weather just below freezing, with sunshine, and beautiful powdery snow from the Thanksgiving evening storm last week. The trails here are always a pleasure with the woods, Ammonoosuc River, and streams, all set against the backdrop of stunning Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range. Thank you Nordic Center!
I walked with my own gear from the Mt Washington hotel to the Nordic center and the trail for snowshoeing starts behind the hotel and crosses base station road. I suggest if you have your own equipment don't bother with the Nordic center. I would suggest walking down the road and picking up the trail from there.
