Blue Moon Motel

I have done quite a bit of traveling, and I have a soft spot for mom and pop motels! I was really hoping to like this place, my husband has family in the area and we are often looking for a place to stay when we visit. The woman checking us in was very kind and so things started off well. The room however was dingy, poorly lit and VERY dated. Those things did not bother us that much, however. The service was the problem. We were told that if we wanted clean towels or sheets we should put our used ones on a chair outside and they would be replaced. No one comes into your room to make the bed or wipe the counters (or anything else). We stayed here for 3 nights and our room was never touched. This was something we did not expect! The motel was quite clean and our sleep quality was good. It's an old-style roadside motel, so you'll hear cars starting up outside your room. The rooms have odd, individual decor (we saw fishing, and jungle). I'd suggest that the management consider no smoking rooms, hard in this rural location for much of their trade, I'm sure. The management was quite personable and friendly, and brought apple pie by each room for us in the afternoon, "just because".

Clean but very dark. Room was very small. Very outdated. They offered us a weekly rate and we said we could be there 5-7 days. Was told to let them know on the 5th day if we were going to stay longer and they went ahead and screwed us and rented to someone else. They didn't even refund us for the two days. Old man is very rude and is all about the money. Old lady super sweet. Hot water runs out very fast and water has a weird smell. Don't suggest staying here. If I could give it 0 stars that's what I would rate it.

We have stayed in the Blue Moon a number of times, and are very disappointed. The rooms are small, and the shampoo and soaps are half gone and very old. We did not have our bedding changed, or new towels, through the 4 days that we stayed there. The water in the shower was warm at best. For the same price, we will stay in other local chain hotels in Amsterdam or Johnstown.

At first the owner seemed very nice and easy to work with, but we soon found out otherwise! She refuses to clean certain rooms and once told us "you like my car? You guys paid for it but you'll never drive it!" Her actions seem completely degrading to guests.
