Best Western Plus KC Speedway Inn & Suites

I stay in a lot of BW brand hotels and this one ranks right up at the top. Convenient location, service was great, and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was pleasant and had real scrambled eggs and not the powdered kind. This was my first stay and I really enjoyed it. A couple of items I did note: had four pillows on the bed but they were all entirely too soft, somehow the heater was left on 85F and the room was extremely hot but got it cooled down, and the entrance to the parking lot is a bit tight to get in to. All fairly minor things and mostly correctable with minor attention to detail. Other thank that it was a very clean property and appeared to be well maintained.

Positive: For the most part it was decent for the price I paid. Breakfast was good, staff was helpful in what they could. Negative: Not a huge deal breaker but there were no ice machines working, elevator needs repairs, it malfunction a few times. Pool needs to get drained to get rid of wet smell since is not being used.

I was grateful for a room late at night when my flight was delayed. The staff was accommodating, welcoming, and I felt safe. Parking was easy to access. Coffee was hot, and the breakfast was adequate, but healthier options would have been appreciated. The location gives this property tremendous potential, but the vibe was not the advertised 4-star. The lighting was harsh (blue/white 4k-5k), giving the space a parking-lot security feel, as if they got a bargain on light bulbs without thought to how they would feel to experience. Bulbs weren't consistent from area to area, so there was a polka dot effect; some were blue/white (hallways and rooms), and others at the front desk, a warmer, more comfortable 2.700-3000 K tone. Pros: first impression was good as far as appearance and cleanliness were concerned. Hotel reception staff were prepared for our group for a family reunion weekend and checking in was easy. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good.|Cons: The swimming pool was not operational at all during our stay and from reading other reviews had been out of order since the first of the year.???? This was definitely a downer as the kids were looking forward to this activity. Found this out too late to make other hotel arrangements for our large group. The elevator was a hit and miss, one relative was stuck on there for a little while and was pretty upset. This place needs an update and some help. Seems like such a great location to have a hotel but sadly some aspects are not working. The pool is shut down due to the health department and the elevator was at some time shut down due to the fire Marshall. To note as well, the handmade safety signs. There is EV charging here and one charger in back of the hotel which has no access to the inside of the hotel besides walking all the way around to the main entrance. Side access doors don’t work with key cards. Exit from inside only. The EV charging is $25 a night, which is absolutely insane for guests. The wall thermostats in the rooms also do not work, not sure what they are there for. Our room was 85° and after calling the front desk we found out to use the controls on the wall unit. The
