Best Western Gregory Hotel

I have officially lost all trust in the Best Western brand after my stay at this NYC location. What should be a flagship example of the chain is instead a total reputation killer. My experience was unacceptable from check-in to check-out. • The Elevator Crisis: The elevator was out of service and, according to locals/staff, had been for weeks. Despite this, the front desk watched us struggle into the lobby with four large suitcases and still assigned us a room on the top floor without a word of warning. • Health & Safety: Because the elevator was broken, we were forced to use the stairwells, which were littered with uncollected garbage bags. I have stayed at this hotel about a year ago and hd no problem but it has gone downhill. We had three rooms reserved and only one was available one hour after check in time. The first full day we returned to our room and found that there had been no service - dirty towels on the floor, trash in the baskets and unmade beds. We were set to check out the next morning and learned that they were going to shur down the elevators in the next five minutes without any prior notice. Why shut down the elevator during check out time? It was a hassle to get our bags down and I had a great deal of difficulty using a cane. Location is fantastic—Bay Ridge neighborhood, steps from 86th St subway (R train straight to Manhattan), tons of restaurants/shops nearby, and close to attractions like Coney Island or the ferry. Great base for NYC without Midtown prices/chaos. Rooms were clean, comfortable beds, good AC, and daily housekeeping. Spacious for the area, with nice amenities like coffee maker and TV. Service was solid—friendly front desk (shoutout to the warm check-in), helpful staff overall. Free breakfast buffet was a highlight—plentiful options, kept fresh. Solid value and would definitely return! 4 stars.

A decent hotel; pricey for what you get, but typical of the area. Two different families reserved rooms at the hotel for one night just before Christmas. Overall, the hotel was clean, and the location is very convenient for walking around Dyker Heights to view the elaborately decorated houses there. The staff at the front desk was professional and helpful. When checking in, they couldn't determine that either room had been pre-paid. Rather than simply saying that we'd have to charge our room again, and work it out with our credit card companies, the staff member called their manager who confirmed that our rooms had already been paid for. The front desk people were not very friendlyNo cutlery, plates, cups or tea and coffee facilities in room although they advertise as having a microwave and fridge. Lobby toilets were being renovatedLift was dirty and public areas overall not very clean. Would like to see some fruit at the breakfast.Positives - the room was clean and pleasant. Bathroom seemed clean. The buffet was sufficient but just needed some fresh fruit offered.
