Best Western Emporia Inn

Fair priced but not for the environment it in tails. -Very strong musty odor in hallways, carpet needs a very thorough cleaning and odor control put down. -There was dog food on the floor of my room, which was a pet free room, so doubtful it was cleaned very well. There was black mold on ceiling above the shower that needed addressed. Last but not least -I pulled the washable screen filters out of the front of the HVAC unit in my room and they were absolutely filthy, no possible way they had been cleaned in months if ever. Spoke to manager on duty when I left she said she would tell the owners and they would be serious about it, time will tell but I would possibly go with Holiday Inn express if traveling with a spouse or children as a health safety precaution!

There are many other hotels in the area to choose from. Do not go here. The manager doesn’t know what she’s doing and has trained her staff the same way. They charged my card for incidentals deposit and never returned the money. When I called and asked, the manager said it will be refunded . My bank says otherwise. I called again and talked to the manager asking for a receipt to have my bank dispute the charge. She refused to email the receipt and hung up on me. The place smells like cigarette walls and mildew carpet. I’ve been to many best westerns and have never seen one this ran down and disgusting and managed by someone so unprofessional. It’s definitely not worth the stop. Don’t risk being blindly robbed. Especially from such a dirty hotel.

This hotel was the dirtiest, smelliest place I’ve ever stayed in. When I went to pull the curtains in the evening we found black mold stains on the back of them. If I could include pictures I would. It was horrible and shocking. We weren’t offered a room change or a refund, simply some “points” on the Best Western rewards program. No thanks, I won’t be back! The manager I spoke with denied that this was mold, saying it was from the sun hitting the back of the curtains. I don’t think the sun would turn a white curtain dark black, nor make it splotchy like mold cultures! Terrible experience overall. This hotel is being poorly run and is a health concern for all guests.

My room was clean and had a very nice remodeled bathroom. The walk in shower was grand! Thank you for accommodating us on our Wedding night! I also had good breakfast and coffee in the morning. There were very good options for hot breakfast and cold. Thank you again.
