Hiking to the top of Beacon Rock is a masterclass in confidence management. There are 52 switchbacks over about 1.8 miles, which sounds reasonable until you’re actually on them. It doesn’t take forever to go up or back down, but let’s be clear — it *is* a hike. At the start there was a brief, wildly optimistic moment of, “I could probably jog this.” That idea lasted maybe 30 seconds before Beacon Rock gently laughed and said, “No. You could not.” The people on the trail were great. Some full conversations, some friendly nods, some mutual eye contact that says, “We’re both alive, barely.” Good trail vibes all around. The day was cold and windy, and somehow that made it even better. Beacon Rock is beautiful on sunny days, beautiful on cloudy days, beautiful when it’s trying to steal your

It is a short 1.4-mile hike with over 500 feet of elevation gain — don’t underestimate it! The switchbacks feel endless, but they offer beautiful views along the way. The view at the top is different, but still worth it. Not too overcrowded. The gate is closed at dusk. So mind that.

As someone who is afraid of heights, this trail was a challenge! Great views all the way up. I would argue the views going up or better than actually at the top. Not too busy. As long as it’s not crowded, you can go as fast or slow as you’d like. Even though it was scary, I would definitely recommend it as a fun little trail to do with friends.

I’ve been wanting to go here for a while from all the recommendations. Definitely worth the wait!!!! Ok let’s get the one bad thing out of the way….. parking! The was not enough so plan accordingly to get you a spot or you might be waiting. Ok the trail itself was AMAZING! it’s a very easy trail up the 800+ feet to the peak. If out of shape I could see the difficulty increase a lot because it’s all up hill till you come back. But there is plenty of room at all 52 turns to stand aside and take a break. For areas to sit on rocks is extremely limited. You always have a beautiful view of Washington and Oregon. The peak gets VERY crowded but with a lil patience you can grab a nice photo or selfie! The trail can have rough areas with bigger rocks so a shoe with a good sole will help the comfor

Beautiful hike, steep well maintained path beside rocky terrain. View from the top is beautiful on clear day.
