If it wasn't for the horrible roads going up, I would be there all the time. I was raised camping at Balch Park. One of my favorite places. I even live on Balch Park Road, lol. The fishing, hiking trails, and the air is thin but amazing. As a kid my brother and I spent a month there, with our parents, in the winter, We were the only ones there. Riding three wheelers and playing board games 12 hours a day. It will always be a favorite memory. The many memories of Balch Park, the bears coming into camp. I just wish they would clean up the roads going up. See the log in the picture where I carved WILLIE 74 when I was 12.

This is a wonderful place. The host is great. I have been going here since a kid and now take my kids. The first come first serve can be an issue, but there are may other areas to camp within 10 minutes.

It's absolutely astonishing amazing breath taking gorgeous. So peaceful Trout fishing was so wonderful I caught my limit and so did everyone with me. Butit was trout fishing heaven no fly rod needed bobber worm & a hook you good to go. I hope you get the chance also camp ground clean spaces looked big. But it was a day trip for me. Enjoy

Hard to get there, the roads are narrow and curvy but it is worth it! We went mid week so there wasn't many campers. The scenery is very beautiful and quiet. I can't wait to go again. We went on a couple of trails and fishing, the ponds might have fish but we didn't have any luck catching any. My kids loved there camping experience and ask about going again all the time.
