The place is excellent, but there is a large amount of trash that people leave. There is also a large amount of broken glass through people breaking their beer bottles, especially down near the lake at the main campground. I picked up about eight bags of trash and called the local office to find a dumpster so I can drop the trash bags off at. So if you come here, please bring a trash bag and a trash grabbing wand or some gloves. It’s such a nice location to have so much trash and glass. I saw that When people did pick up the trash, they just left it in the fire pit it bags that deteriorated. Like someone’s gonna come by and pick it up. Lol. Let’s try to keep this campsite free from trash and broken glass. I think the broken glass would probably take volunteers several days to pick up beca

Depends on what you’re looking for the rating would change. It’s a wide dirt road in which is very rocky as in big pointy rocks sticking out of the hard dirt. In places huge washouts in the road. There are two larger mostly flat areas for campers. Yes, lots of broken glass. Plenty of shooting (not sure what they are shooting as I believe hunting season is over). But: good chances you’ll be the only one. It’s quiet (apart from the shooting in the morning) and peaceful, nice views (apart from the broken glass etc) I came here by accident as I thought I was going to the campground on the neighboring lake, but clearly hadn’t paid attention when picking the spot on google. It was just before dark which is why is been in a bit of a rush and made the mistake. Good learning opportunity for me. Pic

I'm visiting the fee free side and despite what the other reviews say. I did not see cans and bottles everywhere... The place actually looks nice and has a BEAUTIFUL view, lots of fish everywhere too, but you can see lots of nails on the side of the road and there is small pieces of glass here and there but it does kinda look like a party spot. lol. :)

Very rough rotted roads leads to a couple large gravel parking areas. Trash everywhere, large piles of burnt trash near overflowing dumpsters. The lake was beautiful and peaceful if you can handle the smell of a city dump.

Nice lake to kayak and bird watch. Dam built in 1903 can be seen from the water but the entire area is off limits. Disappointing to see so much trash on the shore.
