Customer Reviews
I did work-for-stay in a lot of the AMC huts while traveling through the White Mountains, this was by far my favorite. The staff was very lively and welcoming and the food was good and plentiful. I ran down to the hut from Mt Lafayette to escape a hail storm, I was extremely grateful to arrive and have a warm place to stay for the night.
Excellent hut with great staff! Special thanks to May 💕 3 high bunk beds, large wood common room to play games with a beautiful view over the mountains and a glass of lemonade, cup of coffee, tea, a pastry or cup of soup if you’re passing through. We stayed overnight, coming up via the Falling waters trail, and along the gorgeous vistas of Little Haystack, Mt Lincoln and Mt Lafayette, then down to the Greenleaf hut. Dinner is at 6 with soup, freshly baked bread, salad, main and super secret desert 😋 lights out at 9.30. Wake up at 6.30, breakfast at 7 with bacon, eggs and oatmeal. Staff did a hilarious skit at breakfast 😁 please put a tip in their tip box and fold your blankets. As for the hike itself, we left trail head at 8am on a Friday mid July, enough parking left. We got to Little Hay
Each year I start at Lafayette Place and with 32 ounces of water make my way across the ridge over Lafayette and down to the Oasis that is Greenleaf hut. Here I can refill my water and make it down Bridal Path.I always pay for a sweet treat. This time I forgot my money and EMILY (caretaker) gave me a coffee cake for free with a big smile on her face. Its small acts of kindness like this that make your day. 45 years ago my parents brought me here for an overnight and I still visit today. What an amazing place in the Whites.
Unless you are a registered guest and paid your 288$ for a little bunk in a room with 7 other people the staff here are quite rude. We managed to stumble in at 3 am freezing cold. Slept on the floor for a little bit to get out of the wind and wait for the sun to rise. when everyone got up we were quickly "asked" to leave. I have nothing nice to say about the staff. The facility 2 and a half stars at best.
This was our first hut stay and we loved it so much! The people are great, and they make delicious food. I have allergies and they were so accommodating with food choices. We will absolutely be back!
