William Watson Hotel

Warning new management, we have had the privilege to have a week stay here each November since Jonas and Jane Ann opened their doors…unfortunately good things never last. The new owners have no desire to have repeat customers, we stayed last November and were treated very rudely. No daily replenish of towels or coffee. They act like we are a bother to be staying with them. Good luck

Let me start by stating I read some of the other reviews, and you must keep in mind that this is a HISTORICAL building. They made every effort to keep it in it's original state. We loved it. Gorgeous. The staff are friendly, and I saw where someone said it was hard to get assistance. This is a locally owned business that also has a nice cafe. The employees optimize every second of their day to ensure all tasks are completed. There's a bell for assistance. Be patient. No there isn't an elevator because it originally didn't have one. If you don't want to walk up stairs, get a lower floor room. It is worth it. This will be where we stay every time we visit Illinois, moving forward. Their phone number appears to forward to my wife's personal cell phone number. It's surreal. She'll get bursts of calls for days for the hotel around busy travel times, you know, like right now. Since it's not happening constantly and every listing we find for the hotel has the hotel's (presumably) correct phone number on it, I assume that it's something internal to their call handling system that might be trying to route phone numbers to a secondary helpdesk or a voice mail system, but maybe the forwarding number is wrong? I never seen anything like it before, and I honestly don't know if I understand the problem well enough to even know who to contact about that.

Great historical hotel with friendly service. Stayed in a nicely appointed room with a newer SmartTV. Having stayed at a chain place last week on business, they had better quality sheets, pillows, and towels on par with a better class establishment here which was nice. Bed was a bit too firm for my liking so I ended up lining up several of the many pillows and slept on top of them. Wi-Fi was reliable and fast. Shower nice and hot and good water pressure, Nice restaurant is attached Wed-Saturday, and a basic breakfast (oatmeal, cereal, and fruit cups available. Its a nice place to stay, does not feel like a hotel, the room we stayed in was spacious and homey. A good place to stay if visiting Pike County, IL. This wonderful historic hotel is located right across from the courthouse. It is so cute. The room was quiet and the bed was really comfortable. They have ROKU TV in the room sonwe watched some Gunsmoke and fell asleep after a fun night out. There is coffee provided in the room, a. Mini fridge and microwave. They have 4 big fluffy pillows. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Pittsfield, IL. Thanks for the great stay!
