Western Horizon Ocean Shores

This RV Park, advertised as a "resort" is poorly maintained and expensive for what you get. All the sites are very shady. The facilities, which I suppose are those which give it resort status, are poorly utilized, locked up and inaccessible. Many of the sites had no electricals, even though the receptionist indicated that they were available. The bathroom situation is unacceptable. Long walks to each one, and during peak times they were closed for cleaning. We were directed to others in a clubhouse, but they too were unavailable. We had driven all the way from Vancouver, Canada, so were not in any position to find other accommodations quickly. Close to beach and great service

This RV Park is well suited to families and people who like to walk or ride their bike. Not recommended to the serious RV goers who like the luxury of using multiple appliances at the same time. The sites are rather small and private compared to most RV parks, making it good for tenters as well. Each site is screened by the evergreen trees and shrubs typically of the Pacific NW. Only a few sites included picnic tables and maybe half had fire rings. Several loops were closed which was fine because even over the 4th of July there were many spots open. It's quite a walk to the bathrooms, from my site it was .25 miles round trip but I don't mind walking. We stayed at the Ocean Shores RV Resort because we were interested in knowing more about Western Horizon properties. We were sorely disappointed in what we found. There are over 300 sites on the property, about half of which were not open to be used. (They are letting those sites grow over.) Of the other 150 available sites, hardly any were taken which should have been a huge tip-off. All the sites were overrun with trees and shrubs and looked as though they hadn't been maintained in years. Also, all of the sites were back-in only.
