West Motel

The staff mainly. We have stayed here for years. Close to where we need to be when in town. Always clean and if there is a problem, they always make it right. We feel comfortable and safe here. Rooms are dated, but it serves excellent purpose for our weekend stay. We will always come back as long as this family owns it.

When I travel, my preference is for budget overnights, which gives me more money for other expenses/experiences. That means staying away from name-brands, instead looking for older/long-established/less elaborate/faded facade buildings and reliance upon reviews. Some reviewers have legitimate complaints, but my reviews reflect my needs: safe/dry/comfort. ||Here at the West Motel in MurphyNC-USA, those critical elements are met for a price considerably less than the big box (and specialty small box!) area hotels. Unfortunately, certain commonalities also disappear as the price goes down, usually an ice machine or in-room coffee/tea, such as here in the West Motel. My wife and I have been there three times. Is it a great place...NO. With my wife not taking classes at the Campbell Folk School the prices are far cheaper than the rooms at the school. The price is about $20 per day cheaper than most places in the area. The owner could spend some $$$ on repairs. For $20 a night I can put a towel at the base of door to keep the cold air out. It is a room with a bed, bath and TV. We are only there at night and it is within our budget

Our room was very clean & comfortable. The staff is really friendly. The price was unbeatable compared to other places in town. When in town, this will be our place to stay! The gentleman at the front desk was really friendly & we had a nice chat.

The motel allowed dogs for an extra $10 which I was grateful for. The room was clean, and I saw no bugs. There was no cable TV. They said there was Wi-Fi but it did not work, when we approached the manager/owner about it he wasn't very nice about it. Overall I would stay again if I had my dog.
